OECD Highlights New Signatories to Treaty on Corporate Tax

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is touting the recent signature of its Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Multilateral Convention by six governments, bringing to 78 the total number of jurisdictions that have signed the instrument aimed at amending bilateral tax treaties to combat tax avoidance by multinational corporations.

The World Bank Group, the UN Industrial Development Organization, and a German development advisory company have launched a joint international framework setting out minimum environmental, social, and economic standards for the recognition of "eco-industrial parks," which seek to increase industrial efficiency while advancing the global environmental agenda.

Colombia Faces First Latin American Climate Lawsuit

The nongovernmental organization Dejusticia is supporting what it calls the first climate-change litigation in Latin America in the form of a lawsuit filed by Colombian youth demanding that their government respect their "rights to a healthy environment, life, health, food, and water" by halting deforestation of the Colombian Amazon rain forest.
