UK Unions Seek Right to Sue Parent Companies over Labor Rights

The Guardian reports that the Trades Union Congress, a federation of trade unions in the UK, has called for the UK Parliament to adopt legislation permitting UK workers employed by franchises or subsidiaries of British companies in other countries the right to sue the parent companies over violations of holiday-pay and minimum-wage laws.

Greenpeace Arm Quits Forest Certification Group

Climate news website Eco-Business reports that Greenpeace International will leave the Forest Stewardship Council, a global certification body aimed at pushing businesses to avoid deforestation, because the body is failing to accomplish its aims of protecting the environment and the human rights of people who live in the forest.

UNESCO Pushes Media to Accept "Holistic Gender" Agenda

The UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recently partnered with Global Alliance for Media and Gender on a panel exploring how media companies must embrace a "holistic gender" agenda to ensure equality in women's participation in, coverage by, and access to global media to ensure the fulfillment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
