UN Agencies Launch Corporate "Playbook" on Climate Action

At a side event of the UN climate summit in Bonn, Germany, in November, a group of UN agencies urged business leaders to push their governments for more stringent commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and launched a "Climate Action Playbook" to guide businesses on how to ramp up their climate and "sustainability" commitments.

NGO Seeks Corporate Grievance Mechanisms on Land Claims

Lukasz Czerwinski of the nongovernmental organization Landesa writes on his NGO's promotion of the concept that, in order to maintain a "social license" to operate in poor countries, businesses must consult with local communities on the development of an effective grievance mechanism to deal with allegations of land grabbing.
