NGO Seeks BHR Assessment of EU-Myanmar Deal

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) has published a letter to European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström criticizing the EU's report on the impacts of a pending trade deal with Myanmar and calling for the Commissioner to establish a "team of legal human rights experts" to perform a full human rights impact assessment on the deal.

HRW Criticizes US Action Plan on BHR

Arguing that the plan "largely restates the status quo" and provides no new measures for implementing the global business and human rights (BHR) agenda, Human Rights Watch has criticized the recently released US National Action Plan on Responsible Business Conduct for failing to offer "legal teeth" to address BHR violations by American corporations.
