The World Bank Group has issued a press release maintaining that the private sector must play an expansive role in funding efforts to counter climate change and highlighting a series of initiatives of World Bank Group member the International Finance Corporation to fund the UN's climate agenda, including through "green bonds" and support of a tax on carbon emissions.

The Guardian reports that, in line with activist efforts to persuade businesses to move away from carbon-producing activities to counter global warming, insurance firm Aviva and a multinational group of investment funds recently formed a coalition to pressure large companies to phase out all use of fossil fuels in their operations.

A paper by Huang Zhong and Cheng Qian of Wuhan University considers efforts by the Chinese Government and companies to implement the global business and human rights ("BHR") agenda and concludes by calling for Chinese businesses to establish "internal systems" on access to justice to further remedies for alleged violations of BHR principles.

Japanese NGO Issues Report on BHR Challenges by Sector

The Nippon CSR Consortium, a Japanese organization that seeks to promote business and human rights ("BHR") issues, has issued a new version of its report "Human Rights Issues by Sector," which pushes businesses to engage in human rights dialogue and due diligence processes to further the UN's and activists' BHR agenda.
