NGO Issues Ambitious Recommendations for BHR Action Plans

The European Coalition for Corporate Justice has published a Recommendation on National Action Plans that calls on European governments to go beyond business and human rights action plans released so far by imposing tougher regulatory obligations on businesses and developing a variety of remedies for alleged victims of BHR violations.

NGO Letter Reiterates Call for Clampdown on "Tax Havens"

In its bid to fund the economic, social, and cultural human rights agenda through tax revenue in developing countries, Oxfam has published a letter signed by more than 300 economists calling for large countries to crack down on the availability of low-tax jurisdictions to multinational corporations and others using them to store their funds.

British PM Seeks Global Anti-Corruption Agency

The Guardian reports that, at a summit on countering corruption hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron, the UK Government will push for the establishment of a global anti-corruption agency that would exchange information to help law enforcement authorities detect and prevent corruption and tax evasion.
