EU Ministers Sign Pact on Defense Cooperation

Reuters reports that, in November, foreign and defense ministers from 23 EU member states signed a pact for an initiative called Permanent Structured Cooperation that provides for collaboration on joint EU military projects, sets up a common EU fund for the purchase and development of weapons, and requires national reports on military preparedness.

ECJ Official Finds Against Church on Employment Criteria

Deutsche Welle reports that Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU (ECJ) Evgeni Tanchev has found EU anti-discrimination law prohibits churches in Germany from discriminating against non-Christians in employment unless the discrimination is based on a "genuine, legitimate and justified occupational requirement."
