Austria Proposes EU Funding Cuts over Refugee Quotas

ECtHR: Russia Sent Prisoners Too Far from Families

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has held that Russia violated the rights of prisoners to respect for family life by incarcerating them in penal facilities ranging from 2,000 to 8,000 kilometers from the residences of their close relations and by refusing their requests to be transferred to closer locations.

UK Official Considers EU Arrest Warrant a "Priority"

In remarks to the UK House of Commons, Home Secretary Amber Rudd has confirmed that the British Government sees retention of access to the European Arrest Warrant, which permits EU governments to require other countries to arrest and send criminal suspects to their territory for trial, as a "priority" in upcoming Brexit negotiations.

Reuters reports that Polish officials have threatened the EU with a legal challenge of draft rules reforming the bloc's emissions trading system to raise the cost of greenhouse gas emissions for businesses operating in Europe, arguing that EU treaties require unanimous consent for binding rules forcing a change in countries' energy policies.

Czech Proposal Offers Defense from EU Gun Policy
