German Central Bank President Jens Weidmann has warned that UK banks will not be able to maintain their "passporting" rights, or the privilege to conduct operations across EU member states, if Britain does not remain at least in the European Economic Area, which would require acceptance of the free movement of people from the EU.

Reuters reports that German lawmaker Norbert Roettgen, who chairs the national parliament's foreign affairs committee, has called for the development of a new EU model in which countries would join different circles of integration and would not be required to accept free movement of people in exchange for access to the bloc's "single market."

ECtHR: Greece Violated Rights of Conscientious Objector
