Northern Ireland Legislators Sue to Void Brexit Vote

CNN reports that, as part of a slew of legal complaints seeking to void the British vote to leave the EU or require a parliamentary vote to accomplish Brexit, members of the Northern Ireland Assembly have launched a lawsuit claiming that Brexit would violate the terms of the 1998 agreement to secure peace in Northern Ireland.

EU Releases "Rule of Law Opinion" on Poland

In spite of a provision in its "Framework to Strengthen the Rule of Law" requiring the confidentiality of "Rule of Law Opinions," the European Commission has released to the public its Rule of Law Opinion on the conflict between the Polish Government and Constitutional Tribunal in response to a freedom of information petition from a UK law professor.

UK Member of Parliament and former Conservative Party Leader Iain Duncan Smith has called on Prime Minister Theresa May to trigger formal talks to leave the EU in early 2017 in order to avoid empowering "Remain" supports to delay or weaken the Brexit process.

Brexit Vote Disrupts EU Fishing Plans

The Express reports that EU officials may never be able to implement new legislation regulating fishing in the North Sea, including banning fishers from throwing dead fish overboard and changes that may shorten the fishing season, due to the exit of Britain, and its territorial waters, from the bloc.

Experts: EU Language Rules Hamper UK Medical Practice

The UK Royal College of Surgeons has released a report pointing to Britain's exit from the EU as an "excellent opportunity" for the UK to overhaul EU baseline language requirements for medical professionals that the RCS says have led to a disproportionate number of reprimands for lack of English skills against doctors from other European countries practicing in the UK.
