CoE Pushes Social Rights of "Irregular" Migrants

Council of Europe ("CoE") Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks argues that countries should repeal laws criminalizing "irregular" migration - the process of illegally entering or remaining in a country - and should provide for the access of such "irregular" migrants to social human rights, including the rights to shelter, clothing, and food.

EU Plans Migrant Relocation Mechanism

EU Seeks Common Plan for UN Climate Talks

Luxembourg environment minister Carole Dieschbourg, whose country will hold the European Council Presidency during UN climate talks in December and who will therefore be responsible for developing the EU joint negotiating strategy, has called on EU countries to develop common positions on greenhouse gas cuts and plans for "climate finance" in developing countries.
