International rights group, Human Rights Watch, is warning that the West African state of Cameroon has suffered a sharp escalation in high-casualty attacks against civilians and other soft targets during the past year by the Boko Haram Islamist extremist group, signaling a generalized expansion in jihadist operations in the region.
