The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) produced calls by state leaders from the 57 member-states to develop a "roadmap for the Islamic World" in order to build greater unity and solidarity within the entity that claims to represent the world's 1.8 billion Muslims and to promote human and hard security and sustainable development according to the principles of the OIC Charter, which is based on sharia law.
