Kenya Seeks OIC Membership Through Islamic Finance

The government of Kenya has signaled the expansion of its country's Islamic finance industry through its launch of an Islamic Finance Project Management Office as part of a roadmap for the country's membership in the 57-member-state Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and toward making Nairobi an Islamic finance capital in Africa.

CoE Body Blames UK Violence on Political "Hate Speech"

A report from the Council of Europe's Commission against Racism and Intolerance has blamed a recent rise in racist violence in the UK on "considerable intolerant political discourse" focusing on immigration, including the use of the term "benefits tourism," during the recent campaign over whether the country should leave the EU.

FBI Investigates Maryland Imam for Islamist Terrorism Links

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating a Maryland imam who has declared public support for the Islamic State and for "fighting the anti-Islamic agendas of the kuffar [unbelievers] and munafiqeen [hypocrites] in the West," with links to weapons purchases and illicit money transfers within the US, for possible links to Islamist terrorism.

UN Peacekeepers Staunch Muslim Militia Attacks in CAR

Following another wave of lethal attacks against civilians and refugees by the anti-government Muslim Selena militias fighting to gain control of the Central African Republic, UN peacekeepers pushed back the militia in efforts to staunch what has devolved into a communal civil war in the resource-rich African state.
