Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) recently designated four South Africa-based individuals as facilitators and financiers in criminal activity, including financial extortion, money laundering, and kidnapping for ransom, all towards supporting the organization, recruitment, and operations of IS in Africa, with Treasury's sanction aimed at staunching the spread of Islamist militancy across the African Continent.

The 2022 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) produced by internationally-respected, Australia-based think tank, Institute for Economics and Peace, reports on comprehensive empirical evidence that illustrates the reality of globalized Islamist violence, the consolidation of IS and its global franchises as the world's deadliest Islamic terror group, and noted expanding Islamist terror activity in Africa and South Asia given the concentration of weak and failed states in those regions.

Turkey's Regime & Syrian Opposition Create Educational Networks

Ideological and financial ties between the Grand Mufti of Syria elected by the country's Islamist opposition groups and NATO-member Turkey's ruling Islamist regime are expanding to include transborder education networks for schools from primary grades to university, with the Ankara government's recent authorization for the Syrian Grand Mufti to set up educational institutions in Turkey that condemn the West and call for the elimination of Israel.
