UN Body Criticizes Australia’s Divorce Policy

The UN Human Rights Committee has opined that Australia must allow gay couples married overseas to obtain a divorce in the country, even though the country does not allow same-sex marriage, to comply with a provision of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights guaranteeing equal protection under the law.

US Notifies UN of Withdrawal from Climate Deal

Report Predicts Massive Global Climate Displacement

Feeding into global efforts to develop a new class of refugees fleeing the impacts of climate change, a report from the Asian Development Bank and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research predicts that up to one billion people will be forced to migrate by 2100 due to climate change, with the Asia Pacific region being the hardest hit by the global phenomenon.
