Groves: US Congress Should Resist Paris Climate Deal

In testimony to a committee of the US House of Representatives, Steven Groves of the Heritage Foundation argued that because the Obama Administration ignored its obligation to submit the recent Paris climate deal to the US Senate for ratification as a treaty, Congress should withhold funding from actions carrying out the deal and from the UN agency that helped negotiate it.

UN Committee Questions Australia Ruling on Refugee Children

The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has voiced concern regarding a ruling by the Australian High Court that the Government's detention of asylum seekers at offshore facilities is legal, questioning whether the decision complies with Australia's treaty obligations to prioritize "the best interests of the child" in any decision regarding children.

OECD Warns Countries on Political Finance Rules

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development ("OECD") has released a report warning member countries that they must tighten regulation and enforcement of rules on political finance, including "loopholes" such as spending by third parties, in order to "restore trust in democracy."
