UN Sends Agents to Detroit to Investigate Alleged Violation of "Right to Water"

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has announced that two rapporteurs appointed by the UN Human Rights Council will visit Detroit, Michigan to investigate the effect of city water shutoffs on the human rights of customers who did not pay their bills.

UN Rapporteur: Debt-Collecting Hedge Funds Violate Human Rights

The UN Special Rapporteur charged with investigating the effects of sovereign debt collection on human rights has concluded that hedge funds that attempt to collect sovereign debt from developing countries "directly or indirectly" violate economic, social, and cultural rights.
