Turkish Philanthropist Given Life Sentence by Istanbul Court Despite ECtHR Call for Immediate Release

A Turkish court has sentenced prominent civil rights activist and philanthropist Osman Kavala to life in prison without parole for attempting to overthrow the government, despite the European Court of Human Rights 2019 ruling that called for Kavala’s immediate release.
